Stand up to intimidationby Goal Setter on 07 Mar 2012 permalink
Bullying is not restricted to the schoolyard. Adults suffer constant manipulation in the workplace, through family members, etc... If you are dependent on something or somebody, chances are someone has a vested interest in keeping you that way. Have the courage to make a calculated move - your future depends on it. We do not notice things that evolve around us ever so slightly. We tend to accept as normal, practices that have been around a long time whether they are beneficial to us or not. Wake up to yourself - not everybody is your friend. In fact the moment you decide to do something worthwhile for yourself, opposition is bound to show-up - from the most unsuspected quarters... Shooting down a tall poppy can unfortunately become a national sport. If you suddenly decide to rise up from your not-so-perfect circumstances it will put on the spot those who either condone or benefit from the situation. A power play has been exposed. If you are out and about, either unemployed or in need of accommodation you may come across someone who sees you as a great opportunity to be taken advantage of. If you come across some so-called friends always analyse their motives. Do they have altruistic reasons to help you out or is there something in it for them? Furthermore, is it a good deal for both of you (a win-win situation) or outright exploitation in disguise? Did you give-in too easily because you couldn't be bothered to check out alternatives? There is a time to take charge of your life. You only get one chance in this world. Make it your best shot. Think beyond your own self for a moment. Are there others who could benefit from your breakthrough also? Could you break a path and motivate others by your example? Have you given up on your dream too easily? Is there something you are passionate about? Something to make your mark in society? Something to make a difference in your sphere of influence? Will you rise up to the challenge? What do you want to be remembered for? I think you've got the idea by now. Yes, no matter your circumstances, life is worth living for when you have found a worthwhile goal. Some people have taken years to get where they were supposed to get to. Others have meticulously planned their strategy like an escape from jail. While others have broadened their knowledge to gather the missing parts of their puzzle.
